When you and your girl are figuring out who’s going to make the first move tonight
Salutations and welcome to the 2014 NFL season. Much like many of you, I’ve been looking at the schedule for my favorite team. As lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions I’ve always thought “This year, the Lions are going to do something” until I realize it’s too late and they are out of the playoffs. Now this year I’m being more realistic with the Lions schedule and the more I look at the schedule we have an outside chance of getting into the playoffs even though I have a prediction that they will be having a decent season. Let’s do a run down of the first half of the 2014 Detroit Lions schedule and we’ll go through my ups and downs of the season before it even happens.
Monday, September 8, 2014 Detroit Lions vs. New York Giants. Prediction: Win. I don’t really have a huge doubt regarding the Lions winning this game. The Giants on offense don’t look that much better this year than they did last year. The defense is still far removed from the Super Bowl winning days and I believe the Lions on offense is going to be looked at as the top 5 offense in the league. Don’t be surprised that the Lions will find a way to make this game a lot closer than it should be.
Sunday, September 14, 2014 Detroit Lions @ Carolina Panthers. Prediction: Lost. Second game of the season and I’m already lost as to who should win a game. This game is honestly a coin flip when you look at it. While I want to say the Lions can win because Cam Newton has no one to throw it to, Newton is such an amazing talent that I can see him running the ball himself to the point where the Lions have to play him more honestly. While the Panthers offense isn’t looking good the defense still looks stellar and that can cause many problems for my team. I hope the Lions can pull this one out but I don’t have the most faith in them this weekend.
Sunday, September 21, 2014, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers. Prediction: Win. This one may come to a surprise for most but in the Aaron Rodgers era of the Packers, the Lions have played them competitively. It may be because of the fact that Aaron Rodgers sometimes ends up injured, no Suh. At home, I think Ford Field, the home of the Detroit Lions, will bring so much energy to their team that the Lions will find a way to win. I know that sounded irrational, but what can I say…I’m a fan. Look for this game in the last 8 minutes to be some great television.
Sunday, September 28, 2014, Detroit Lions @ New York Jets. Prediction: Win. The Jets defense look like a shell of itself from what they used to be. I’m still not sold on Geno Smith as a QB or the weapons around him. This game can result in a blow out in my honest opinion. Next game!
Sunday, October 5, 2014, Detroit Lions vs. Buffalo Bills. Prediction: Win. This is another game where I think the Lions’ offense will outshine the Bills’ offense. I think E.J. Manuel can be a decent QB and with Sammy Watkins to throw it to, they can be a fun duo to watch. I’m not so sure as to how great the Bills’ offensive line is and I don’t know if you know, the Lions front 4 is pretty good. I think they’ll cause some issues Manuel. I can see a score of 31-14.
Sunday, October 12, 2014, Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings. Prediction: Win. I would say this is going to be a close game because it’s a division game but Matt Cassell is the starting QB and he’s not good. Don’t expect much respect within the division.
Sunday, October 19, 2014, Detroit Lions vs. New Orleans Saints. Prediction: Lost. I really want no parts of the New Orleans Saints. That team looks so good offensively and pretty solid on defense that I legit believe they can give the Seahawks some troubles. Drew Brees still looks good, Sean Payton can still run a good offense, and the Lions secondary is still suspect. Brees might mess around throw the ball fifty times on us.
Sunday, October 26, 2014, Detroit lions @ Atlanta Falcons. Prediction: Win. Did anybody else watch Hard Knocks? I stopped watching for two reasons: 1. This team is boring. 2. This team is soft despite the coaches saying they aren’t. Matt Ryan should have a better season this year than the last but without a balanced running attack, I think won’t be afraid to double cover Julio Jones more often than not.
Well look at that 6-2 for the first half of the season. I’m somewhat surprised in what I’m predicting for them. You’d think this team could coast out for the rest of the season and maybe get at least a Wild Card spot. I’ll tell you soon as to why a specific three game stretch can make or break a certain quarterback’s career this season.
Can somebody give me a topic in the NFL to write about?
OH MY GOD????
Swear to god if there’s a Link death stare similar to Luigi’s…BRUH
